Marissa Mayer-led Yahoo! shift toward a full-sized video-network center is gaining stream, a move that will be ran in part by talent poached from YouTube, report says.

Convincing to Switch Allegiances

Citing sources close to the situation, the company is looking to go to its video-content offerings by convincing famous YouTube stars with their deals to switch commitments. The sources added that Yahoo! is planning to acquire individual talent and channels rather than launching a standalone video website similar to YouTube.

Offering More Cash to Talents

Established to launch within a couple of months, the effort to draw talent away from Google’s video service apparently hinges on providing more cash, said the sources.  “Yahoo executives have told video makers and owners that the company can offer them better economics than they’re getting on YouTube, either by improving the ad revenue or by offering guaranteed ad rates for their videos,” the sources added in a statement.

Yahoo! has not responded to the claims yet.
