It would be nice to enjoy tanned skin all year, but everyone knows it takes only a few days or weeks before the colour begins to fade from your sun-kissed skin. After vacationing at the beach, you will probably begin to see signs of a fading tan even before you arrive home.
You can make sure, however, that your tan lasts at least a few days or even a couple of weeks longer. Here are some ideas on how to do it.
Do not bake too long
Bali Body and other skin care brands recommend using tanning oils to maximise the benefits of your time under the sun. However, do not take too long, so your skin does not burn. Sunburn can be painful and irritating, and it will quicken the process of shedding old skin cells, shortening your tan and defeating your purpose.
Moisturise and hydrate
Your skin cells can last longer (so you retain your tan longer) if they receive plenty of hydration. Do not forget to drink plenty of water and eat vegetables and fruits known for their high water content, such as watermelons. Do not also forget to buy a high-quality moisturiser for your face, as well as a moisturising lotion for your body.
Before hitting the beach, make sure to rid your skin of dead cells. A fresh layer of tanned skin will last longer before the next turnover of skin cells. Three days before your scheduled tanning, use a gentle exfoliating scrub. You can also make your own exfoliator with a mix of rock sea salt and essential oils.
With these ideas, you might be able to flaunt and enjoy your tan a little longer than usual.
